Here is a general introduction to the AICP exam from January 2023. If you are interested in taking the exam, the next sessions begin August 3rd 2023. If you are a past or present Urban Knight who is looking for a study group, this is a great group that has worked with us in the past. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Please check on the drop-down buttons below an extensive list of resources for the 2023 AICP STUDY GROUP – 2nd Class (Ethics) & Exam Diversity Scholarship
2nd Class
There is no charge for the class. The GoToWebinar, GoToStage, One Drive and the Treasure Coast AICP Exam Study links are being made available to you free by the APA-Florida Chapter. Attendance at both the Thursday and the Saturday question sessions (once the latter start in September), are “attend when you can.” The AICP Study Group sessions will be held weekly until October 26th, except September 7th during the APA-FL Conference. A separate, all-day pre-conference training session on the AICP Exam will be held on Tuesday, September 5th at the APA-FL Conference location in Jacksonville (conference registration required).
For the Fall, we plan to live-broadcast and record the Thursday and Saturday sessions (once the latter begin in early September) using GoToWebinar, which will include the ability for remote live interaction with the presenter. We will also make the webinar, the presentations and all other materials except for a few copyrighted sets, available after each class on one Drive & GoToStage stages for downloading. You will be able to remotely listen to the class and view the class materials either live (including active participation), or download and view the materials after each class, plus obtain additional associated materials that we will add to the One Drive after each class. Location of the One Drive/GoToStage and directions for their use will follow in an email after each class (typically on Fridays). One Drive materials should be available for at least a year. IMPORTANT NOTE: You must be an APA member to have access to the One Drive site as it contains APA materials only available to APA members. The One Drive also contains the study materials from the previous 2022 and 2023 NOWsessions.
If you want to participate in either the Thursday or Saturday webinars live, follow the links and instructions below that I will send out weekly in an email prior to each class, typically on Tuesday – (NOTE: You need to register to participate in GoToWebinar sessions live, but you do not need GoToWebinar registration to view the Webinars after-the-fact, but you can; otherwise, just download them from the One Drive or GoToStage sites – the One Drive & GoToStage instructions will be circulated after each class to APA members, typically on Friday).
APA EXAM PREP Webinar
The American Planning Association has placed exam study webinars on their website. Look at Tip 3 on https://www.planning.org/certification/exam/ that contains 2022 webinars covering the new exam outline done by the folks from PlanningPrep that APA uses yearly at the national conference to do their exam prep training. The site contains 9 of 10 webinars; the remaining webinar should be added soon. Use these webinars to further provide guidance on the subject matters to be covered by the new exam outline, especially in new areas like “Communication”. The webinars are short (15-45 minutes in length) and cover the new exam outline topics. Use the webinars as a guide to the new exam topics, not as an absolute gospel as to what will be on the new exam (e.g. I highly doubt a 2021 court case that they list will be covered on the May 2023 exam – APA hasn’t done that in the past; other, more important recent court cases have not been showing up on the exam yet).
