The Emerging Urban Knights Planning Association hosted their first Mentor Mixer event with sponsorship from APA FL’s Orlando Metro Section and the University of Central Florida’s School of Public Administration. The event was held at Ember in downtown Orlando on March 28, 2014. We had over 35 students and professionals join us to mix and mingle and talk about urban planning issues in Central Florida. The event was a success, and here is what some of the mentors and planning professionals had to say:

“Thank you organizing such a wonderful event and I believe that it is important for both students as well as professionals in the field to keep this interaction open. Looking forward to more events in the future. Way to go Urban Knights!” – Nikhila Rose – Transportation Planner – MetroPlan Orlando

“… looking forward to future mixers.” – Dean Grandin – City of Orlando

“Great job ladies on your continued success! Let’s stay in touch as WTS and APA further develop our mentorship program.” – Natalie Suñer – Transportation Planner – GMB Engineers & Planners, Inc.

“Thanks to you both for putting on such a great event. I am always happy to help. …. Glad to see such a good turnout!” – Eric Raasch – Principal Planner – Orange County Planning Division

“We look forward to working with our students and the opportunity to participate in classroom opportunities as well.” – Bruce C. Hall, RLA – Project Manager/Senior Landscape Architect – LITTLEJOHN ENGINEERING ASSOCIATES, INC.

“I thoroughly enjoyed myself” – Jim Ward – Planner – Orange County Planning Division

“Great work to you and all of the Urban Knights on organizing a successful event! I look forward to future mixers and please keep me in mind when you start the “matching” process. Let me know if I can assist in the meantime.” –Lara Bouck PE, AICP – Transportation Planner – RS&H

“Thanks again for the mentor mixer. It turned out great and beneficial for those who came. I assure you that your work is not going noticed. I thank you.” – Sony Peronel – MSURP Student
