I recently had the opportunity to take a tour of the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts in the heart of Downtown Orlando. This state of the art theatre is set to open in Fall of 2014. This project has been seven years in the making, and the project broke ground in June of 2011. Over $386 million has been spent to produce the first phase of this theatre, the second phase should break ground soon after the first phase is finished. I was so lucky to have an opportunity to take a tour of the unfinished building, and see what is in store for this new Performing Arts Center!
Here are the pictures I took on my journey!
View from the Disney Stage
The “important people” boxes
View of the Disney Stage from the 5th floor
A view of another performance area
The roof; the AC and HVAC units! Built on a concrete poured foundation with rubber under neath to stop the vibrations and help from disturbing the performances!
View from the 4th floor lobby area
The round staircases!
The outside of Phase 1
The overhang of the building, suspended and supporting itself!
Myself and some of my friends posing next to one of the stages!
